Information technology and libraries: Rare regional publications to be digitized in the Vladimir Regional Scientific Library

Experts of the M. Gorky Vladimir Regional Universal Scientific Library convert into a digital format using the new equipment - a complex of high-quality scanning ELAR PauerSkan - rare regional editions to provide a wide range of users access to the Internet.

"We have already digitized more than 3 thousands rare books and local history libraries of the Vladimir region, about 1,200 issues of the newspaper "Appeal" during the war years (1941-1945) on the scanner ELAR PlanScan A1, - says deputy director of library automation Larisa Novinskaya. - Electronic copies of books, newspapers and magazines are available in the portal of the Digital Library "The land of Vladimir". This resource is an information system that provides access to full-text electronic copies of rare documents and local history library of the Vladimir region".

In the Vladimir Regional Universal Scientific Library of the new equipment is also planning to use to digitize cards, postcards, old photos of other documents that require high-quality scanning.
