Internet and society: Virtual encyclopedia of “Siberian” Russian language to be presented in 2016

Scientists of the Tomsk State University in 2016 will present the pilot version of the virtual encyclopedia of dialectical peculiarities of the Russian language in Siberia.  

The encyclopedia will include the study of speech media dialects, folklore and language of documents and media from the XIX to the XXI century.

It is assumed that the first encyclopedia will be created in Russian, and in the near future articles will be translated into other languages. The project is part of the Scientific center of Siberia, established at the university in May this year under the program to improve the competitiveness of the university.

Research of Siberian dialects of the Russian language in the Tbilisi State University has been conducted for several decades. Philologists of the university and their works are widely known among specialists.
