
The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: The exhibition of illustrations “Fairy Tale in Colors” in Astrakhan
December 15, 2015, in the Astrakhan Art Gallery is running an exhibition "Fairy Tale in Colors" in the framework of the project "Christmas meetings", which is dedicated to the Year of Literature and the 90th anniversary of the famous artist-illustrator May Petrovich Miturich-Khlebnikov (1925-2008). The exhibition features more than 20 of his sketches in book illustrations to literary works for children's writers such as K. I. Chukovsky, V. V. Bianchi, I. A. Krylov, and others.
Among the exhibited graphic works of particular interest are works of the famous Astrakhan graphic artist N. N. Skokov (1916-1987), worked in the 1970s, the post of director of the Astrakhan Art Gallery. Visitors can see his illustrations to the collection of Russian folk tales, published in 1950.
The exhibition halls feature illustrations made by artists whose names are well known to a wide circle of lovers of fine art and literature.
The exhibition "Fairy Tale in the colors" not only introduces viewers to the already familiar scenes and characters, but it contains a kind of excursion into the miracle of the birth of theatrical performance-tales. In the halls you can see the beautiful costumes, and posters, set designs from the collection of the Astrakhan Theatre for Young Audiences, as well as by young artists - graduates of the theater department of the P. A. Vlasov Astrakhan Art School.
