History of Saint-Petersburg: The exhibition, dedicated to the history of creation of the monument “To Heroic defenders of Leningrad”

December 17, 2015 in a branch of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture "Workshop of Anikushin" (St. Petersburg) is opened a permanent exhibition "Personal biography", dedicated to the history of the monument "To Heroic Defenders of Leningrad in the Great Patriotic War". 

Monument "To Heroic Defenders of Leningrad" in Victory Square is designed by Mikhail Konstantinovich Anikushin and was opened 40 years ago to the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition presents the plaster model in the size of the monument, which in 1970 made the bronze at the "Monumentskulptura". The central place is a model of multi-figure of the "Blockade", which took place the restoration in 2014. For the first time are exposed the original fragments of large-format models of the monument, which earlier were closed to visit the fund.

Art exposition is accompanied by fragments of letters and memoirs, rare historical photographs and documents from the archives of the heirs of the sculptor and archives of the State Museum of Urban Sculpture.

The exhibition is dedicated to a double anniversary - the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 40th anniversary of the opening of the monument.
