Exhibitions: Early Russian photograph from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum is presented in Saint-Petersburg

In the Picket Hall of the Winter Palace (St. Petersburg) on December 10, 2015 is opened the exhibition "Atelier "Light painting of Levitsky". The early Russian photograph in the collection of the State Hermitage Museum".

One of the most famous studios of St. Petersburg was opened in 1849 by an amateur photographer Sergey Lvovich Levitsky (1819-1898). The exhibition first presents works by Levitsky of the most brilliant period of his work (1854-1859): 87 exhibits fully reflect the search for imaginative solutions, particularly Illumination and retouching, a variety of techniques clearance prints. Here are samples of daily production studio, and unique prints, created for the imperial collection, many of them are excellent examples of portraiture shooting and bear comparison with the best works of Russian paintings and graphic art of the middle of the XIX century.
