Society and culture: The exhibition “Mikhail Prishvin. Photographs and diaries. 1929-1936” in Moscow

The Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow and the State Literary Museum present an exhibition of photographs of outstanding Russian writer and publicist - Mikhail Prishvin (1873-1954).

The exhibition which consists of photographs, printed from the newly discovered negatives of Prishvin, accompanied by previously unpublished diary entries allow fresh looking at the work of "a singer of Russian nature" as Konstantin Paustovsky called him, feel the extraordinary beauty and poetry writer's language, combined with observation, restraint and simplicity, lyricism and imagery inherent to Prishvin as photographer.  

A special place in the exposition belongs to record fragments of stories and novels by Prishvin. Visitors of the exhibition will have the opportunity to hear them in the performance of the author himself. Also, visitors will be able to gain access to the interactive guide "Your MAMM" and get familiar with audio exposition to convey the mood and reinforces the emotional perception.

Prishvin was keen on photography during the trip to the North in 1906. The first pictures were made with the camera borrowed from a random fellow traveler. Published after the trip book "In the land not frightened bird" Prishvin illustrated own photos. He later recalled, as a publisher, considering these pictures, asked if he was not an artist. In 1925 Prishvin bought a camera, and since then the picture has become an integral part of his life, it captures the writer - anywhere else and he never parted with the camera.
