Information technology and culture: Mobile application “Live Pages” to be enriched with the novel by F. Dostoevsky “Crime and Punishment”

Mobile application "Live Pages", established on the Year of literature by Samsung, the experts of the group Tolstoy Digital and the Higher School of Economics, will be enriched. Thus, the novel of Leo Tolstoy "War and Peace", presented in a modern interactive format, in the beginning of 2016 is joined with the novel by F. M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment", which was chosen by an open online voting of readers.

Thus "Live Pages" will be part of a major international online reader's marathon "War and Peace. Read novels", organized by the holding company VGTRK. From 8 to 11 December, more than 1,300 people worldwide live will read Tolstoy's epic novel from beginning to end. Some participants will read a novel on the plates with the installed application "Live Pages". 

Some materials, developed by experts specifically for applications will be available at the campaign’s website.

In total, the reading of the novel takes 60 hours and will be held in more than 25 cities of Russia and the world. The readings will include as celebrities - actors, directors, TV and radio, politicians, athletes, scientists, government officials and ordinary Internet users who love creative work of Tolstoy. Among the participants of the reading are descendants of Leo Tolstoy's family and relatives of the writer, living in Russia, the USA and France.

A live webcast of the readings will take place on state TV channels "Russia K", "Russia 1", the radio station "Mayak", as well as at the project’s website. The start of readings of each volume is at 10 a.m. Moscow time.
