Information technology and libraries: The first network of mobile libraries is opened in the Kaluga region

4 December 2015

The first network of mobile libraries with e-books, which covers almost the whole region, was opened in the Kaluga region.

Mobile library - a stand with the image of books, each of which requires its own QR-Code (special bar-code). Considering this code with mobile device – smart phone or tablet - residents of the region will be able to download the e-book via the Internet. The region includes 40 surfaces in 15 settlements.

The shelves represent 50 books. At the same time 30% of them - modern literature, and the rest - a classic. But the organizers promise that early next year shelf mobile libraries will increase to 100 books, and later to 200. On the shelves there will be found both fiction and books on psychology and education of children.

Shelves plan to be updated every six months. Books for Mobile Library are offered by e-library to Library LitRes. Its representatives stressed that the rights of the proposed product are purchased from the authors.

With mobile libraries will be promoted reading among the inhabitants of the region, and to accustom Kaluga residents to use legal content.

In the future, mobile libraries will be placed in the parks of the region.
