International events: The exhibition to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the National Library of Russia

December 2, 2015 in the new building of the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg) on ​​the eve of Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan is opened the exhibition ""Things can not be in vain…". Famous natives of Kazakhstan: anniversaries".

The exhibition includes rare editions from the collections of National Library of Russia in Kazakh and Russian languages. The exhibition tells of the heroes of the country of the Great Steppe: poet and writer Abay Kunanbayev (170 years), scientists and ethnographer Chokan Valikhanov (180 years), the writer Esenberlin Ilyas (100 years), writer and journalist Anuar Alimzhanov (85 years). One of the sections of the book is the well-known Kazakh writer Abdizhamil Nurpeisov, celebrated this year 91 years.

A special place belongs to sections devoted to the heroes of the Soviet Union - fearless sniper Alia Moldagulova and commander of machine-gun and separating Sultan Baimagambetov, repeated the feat of Alexander Matrosov. 

Visitors will see a rare edition of the 1945 "Heroes of the Soviet Union - Kazakhs".

Of particular interest are the literary-critical articles and studies, memories of the hero of the day, their letters. Among the exhibits - colorful picture books and books for preschool and early school age.

The exposition is complemented with applied art and home decor provided by the Kazakh national-cultural society of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region "Ata-Meken", as well as paintings by contemporary Kazakh artists.

The exposition will run until January 21, 2016.
