
Memorable dates of Russia: The exhibition “Stored Memory” dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin
From January 27 to March 27, 2016 at the M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin Museum in Tver is held an exhibition "Stored Memory" dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of the Great Russian writer and satirist.
On display there are exhibits, which the museum received from the Saltykov family in different years.
Here you can see things that are not included in the permanent exhibition of the museum and stored in the funds. This, above all, student drawings of the Saltykov brothers.
The first memorial exhibits came to the museum in 1970s. Acquisition of the collection continued throughout 40 years of the museum's activity. The exhibition presents acquisitions of recent years.
Great contribution to the formation of a collection was made by great grand niece of Saltykov-Shchedrin Tamara Lebedeva, who gave the museum items for a long time kept in the family of the writer's younger brother - Ilya Evgrafovich. This isan album of photographs, ladies accessories, objects of court life. All of these things will take a worthy place in the exposition.
The museum houses a rich collection of illustrations to Saltykov-Shchedrin. Memorial exhibits are supplemented with illustrations by artists such as A. V. Samohvalov, Kukryniksy, L. P. Lamm, V. M. Kanevsky, A. V. Vanetsian.
Visitors can see rare exhibits - clocks of the Saltykov family, entry 2014. They were kept at Vladimir Nikolaevich Lebedev - great grand nephew of M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin.
