24 January 2016

The exhibition "SaintPatrons of the Russian land", which opened on January 22, 2016 in the Center of Russian culture of the city of Tallinn, is pictures of especially revered icons, which for centuries have been accessed by Russian people with prayers for the protection of the Fatherland.

Honoring the first Russian saints became the spiritual foundation from which was born and developed a national holiness. During the ordeal, when the fate of the Motherland, the land of Russia defended the entire assembly of Russian saints. These are princes, warriors, monks, martyrs, holy fools, church pastors and other heroes of the faith.

The memory of the saint patron of the Russian people was preserved not only in their miraculous image. In honor of the glorified saints were established the Order of the Russian Empire - St. Andrew, St. Prince Vladimir, St. George. This tradition was revived during the Great Patriotic War, when was established the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky, and the 1942 black and orange ribbon of the Order of St. George was the hallmark of the Guard units and a symbol of victory.

One of the section of the exhibition is devoted to images of the Blessed Virgin Mary, because faith in the intercession of Our Lady of the entire Russian land is firmly entrenched in the national consciousness of the Orthodox. Marian veneration of images is reminiscent of the heroic pages of Russian history.

As part of the exhibition there are 30 photos of reproductions of icons from the museum collection. Each icon has a deployed annotation.
