
Society and culture: The Museum-Reserve “Kizhi” presents the exhibition “A quarter of a century under the auspice of UNESCO” in Petrozavodsk
January 19, 2016 the Museum-Reserve "Kizhi" (Republic of Karelia) opens for residents and visitors of the city of Petrozavodsk an exhibition "A quarter of a century under the auspices of UNESCO", which is represented in the renovated exhibition museum.
The exhibition is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the inclusion of Kizhi in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Then Kizhi temples became one of the first three UNESCO sites in Russia, along with the Moscow Kremlin and the historic center of St. Petersburg. From 14 to 17 December 2015 the exhibition was presented at the IV St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum in the General Staff of the State Hermitage.
The central part of the exhibition is an interactive layout, which is not only the Kizhi churchyard, but the entire protected area, including the historic village of Kizhi necklace. Visitors can via tablet or smartphone to consider QR-codes and to receive detailed information about each object in the layout. The large interactive screens show a video and a slide show dedicated to the restoration of the Transfiguration Church and a 50-year history of the Museum-Reserve "Kizhi".
Visitors of the exhibition will also see the wooden models of the Transfiguration and Intercession Churches made by experts Plotnitsky center museum "Kizhi". Kizhi is now working to create the master layout bell tower, and soon the whole Kizhi churchyard in miniature can be seen in Petrozavodsk. In addition, the exhibition presents a unique layout of lifting, which was specifically designed for large-scale and complex restoration of the famous church on Kizhi Island - Church of the Transfiguration.
