The Year of Russian Cinema-2016: The State Museum of Cinema opens Video classes-2016

In January 2016, the State Central Museum of Cinema opens its Video classes. Every week on Sundays in the Small Hall of the Central House of Cinematographers in Moscow is traditionally held lectures, exhibitions and film screenings. In the Year of the Russian cinema all activities of lecture will be combined by topic of "Cinema – is…".

The first theme of the year - "Cinema - a childhood". The program included child domestic films over the years.

The State Central Museum of Cinema - one of the young Russian museums. Founded in March 1989, on the basis of the reorganized department of the Museum of All-Union Bureau of propaganda cinema. Since the opening, and until November 2005 the Cinema Museum located in the Cinema Center in Krasnaya Presnya where were created fund collections, reflecting the Russian film culture throughout the history of its development.

Since late 2005, the Museum of Cinema stock warehouse located on the territory of the film concern "Mosfilm", and film screenings and other museum events take place at various venues in Moscow. Since October 2014 one of the official sites of the Museum has become the Central House of Cinema.

Now the museum takes three main activities: collecting items on the history of film culture; exhibitions and expositions related to the history of cinema; and the formation programs of the films included in the treasury of domestic and foreign cinema.

Museum funds account for about 150 000 exhibits and include cinema photo- technique, animation funds, photo library, manuscript holdings, rare books, filmstrips, fine arts materials and more.
