Dostoevsky was in Italy three times. He first visited the country during his first trip abroad in 1862. He spent two weeks in the second half of August, visiting Turin, Florence, Milan and Venice. The second time, Dostoevsky traveled to Italy a year later, in September - October 1863 he traveled the country from north to south, visiting Turin, Rome, Naples and Livorno. The journey lasted a month and a half. The longest was the third stay of Dostoevsky in Italy. It lasted for almost a year - from September 1868 to August 1869. Dostoevsky on this trip was accompanied by his second wife, A. G. Dostoevskaya. From a trip to Italy Dostoevsky brought commemorative postcards with reproductions of paintings by the great masters of photography and types of cities. Later A. G. Dostoevskaya, forming a collection of the "Museum of Memory of Fyodor Dostoyevsky," complemented his collection of artistic photographs of large landscapes of Florence, Milan, Venice.
Dostoevsky's work is very popular in Italy. The novel "Crime and Punishment" is included in the school curriculum. The works often portrayed by Italian filmmakers, performances of his novels are always present in the repertoire of Italian theaters. Italians are protective of the memory of the Great Russian writer. In Florence, in the house where Dostoyevsky lived and wrote the novel "The Idiot", a memorial plaque was set. In the name of Dostoevsky was named a street in Milan.
Modern Italian photographer Davide Costantini, who visited Moscow in 2014 "Apartment Museum of Fyodor Dostoevsky", returning to their homeland created a series of works, which are connected by their love for Dostoevsky with views of the places associated with his name. It is a kind of spiritual journey of the artist.
The exhibition is opened until February 26, 2016.
