History and culture: The exhibition “Time of Magic: New Year Marathon” in Saratov

The Saratov Regional Museum hosts the exhibition "Time of Magic: New Year Marathon". It was created on the basis of the museum's collection and Christmas toys belonging to Saratov.

The exhibition includes Christmas decorations, and New Year greeting cards, photographs, masks, costumes and other holiday paraphernalia - from the beginning of the XX century to the first years of the XXI century. One of the unique exhibits is the book "Snow Maiden. Snowman", published in Moscow in 1909. Its author - Raisa Kudasheva, known as the creator of the words to the Christmas song - "The Forest Raised a Christmas Tree".

The exhibition also features the typical reconstruction of the interiors of different periods. Festive service of late XIX - early XX century is adjacent to the great samovar, cutlery and gift boxes for sweets: tea biscuit partnership steam factory Einem, halva candy factory of the Moscow Association of beginning of the XX century, fruit drops, etc. Small normal room of 1950-60s tells how celebrated the New Year at the time: costumes for children's matinees, elegant cup, a bowl of tangerines and indispensable "Soviet champagne".
