History of Russia: The exhibition “The Great Patriotic War of 1812 in the engravings” in Murmansk

The exhibition "The Great Patriotic War of 1812 in the engravings" was opened in the Murmansk Regional Art Museum.

The exhibition includes photo reproduction prints of the XIX century - early XX century, united by one common theme - a victory in the Patriotic War of 1812, patriotism, love for the motherland. The original prints were made by artists from Russia, France and Germany and assembled in private collections in Russia.

The basis of the exposition is "Terebenev ABC". Famous Russian artist Ivan Ivanovich Terebenev created about 40 topical and interesting from an artistic images, cartoons about the war of 1812, on the basis of which the children's alphabet was created. At the end of 1814, these cartoons were etched etching 1/16 share sheet and painted in watercolor by hand.

The "ABC" pictures presented numerous examples of heroism and self-sacrifice of the Russian people. Poetic captions under the pictures "ABC" belong, probably, to Ivan Terebenёva.

The exhibition will run till March 6.
