Russian culture abroad: The exhibition “The Russian Avant-Garde: from Chagall to Malevich” in Vienna

February 26, 2016 at the Museum of Albertina (Vienna, Austria) was opened the exhibition "Russian Avant-Garde: From Chagall to Malevich". This is a joint project of the Museum of Albertina and the State Russian Museum. Visitors can get acquainted with rapid time but immensely long to influence the evolution of the art world in the Russian avant-garde painting.

The exhibition features 130 paintings, drawings and sculptures. Among them are recognized masterpieces of Russian avant-garde from the Russian Museum: "Cyclist" (1913) by Natalia Goncharova, "Portrait of Anna Akhmatova" (1914) by Nathan Altman, "Portrait of V. E. Meyerhold" (1916) by Boris Grigoriev, "Walk" (1917-1918) by Marc Chagall, "Black Square" (about 1923) by Kazimir Malevich, "Fantasy" (1925) by Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, as well as works by Wassily Kandinsky, Alexandra Exter, Lyubov Popova, Vladimir Lebedev, Mikhail Larionov and others.

The exhibition will run until June 26.
