World history: The exhibition “The Study of the Moon” in Yaroslavl

February 19, 2016 at the Museum "Space", a branch of the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve, is opened a new exhibition "The Study of the Moon". The exhibition is devoted to the anniversary date - the 50th anniversary of a soft landing on the moon automatic station "Luna-9" (3 February 1966).

The exhibition includes items from the collections of Yaroslavl Museum-Preserve. These are themed badges, souvenir ceramics, various posters, devoted to the study of the Earth's satellite. Of interest is the image of a pennant with the Soviet coat of arms and the inscription "September 1959" - a replica of the pennant delivered to the surface of the Moon of the first Soviet automatic interplanetary station. Also on display there is the globe of the moon and lunar rover model, donated by Valentina Tereshkova in 1973. Among the other exhibits - many books on the research satellite, newspaper articles, documentaries and rare photographs.  

A separate unit of the exhibition is dedicated to the American lunar exploration program "Apollo". This program of manned space flight, the US space agency NASA was adopted in 1961 to implement the first manned landing on the moon, and completed in 1975. Total for "Apollo" program 6 successful landings on the moon astronauts were committed. These six flights on the program "Apollo" at the moment - the only ones in the history of mankind, when people landed on another celestial object. "Apollo" program and the landing on the moon are often referred to as one of the greatest achievements in the history of mankind.
