Memory of Russia: The bust to General Ivan Chernyakhovsky is opened in Moscow
February 18, 2016 in Moscow, in the park on the Chernyakhovsky Street is held the grand opening of the bust to General Ivan Chernyakhovsky. On this day in 1945 he died during the liberation of Poland.
Monument to the youngest General of the Army and commander of the front in the history of the Armed Forces of the USSR was created on public donations. The contest of the Russian military-historical society received five options of the bust, of which Ivan Chernyakhovsky’s family chose Moscow sculptor Vitaly Shanov.
"We have tried to move away from the traditional image of the hero a little pathos, and portray him as he was in life: a strong man in the prime of life. In 37 Chernyakhovsky has become a general of the Red Army, and was killed during the liberation of Poland at the age of 38", - said sculptor Vitaly Shanov.
