Information technology and history: The “golden fund” of the newspaper of railway men “Beep” for 1920-1942

 “Electronic Archive” Corporation has scanned issues and created PDF-files in 1920-1942 of the main newspaper of railway men. Electronic resource greatly accelerated the work of finding the right information in the reference and bibliographic department of the "Beep" Publishing House. 

"Materials of the newspaper are very much in demand by researchers, - says the head of reference and bibliographic department Olga Kushkina. - As you know, "Beep" in the 20-40s of the last century was not just a body print of the Soviet railway workers, but also the publication united talented writers who have become classics of Russian literature and journalism. The newspaper included, in particular, Mikhail Bulgakov, Valentin Kataev, Yuri Olesha, Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov".  

Digitization of sheet newspapers, which will be a hundred years, has allowed, on one side in four years, to save a unique array, and on the other, made it possible for everyone who goes to the reference and bibliographic publishing department to quickly find information about events and personalities.

The project ELAR experts scanned page by page on the planetary scanners issue of the newspaper, electronic images processed and formed for each release PDF-File to automatically recognize the substrate.
