History of Russia: The exhibition of photographs “Derbent. Live connection of times”, dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Derbent, in Rome
From 9 to 18 February in the Russian center of science and culture in Rome is held an exhibition of photographs "Derbent. Live connection of times", devoted to the 2000 anniversary of Derbent, one of the oldest Russian cities. The premiere of the exhibition was held in Moscow, and then it was held in Veliky Novgorod, Yaroslavl and Kronstadt - the twin city of Derbent.
The purpose of the exhibition - is not only a story about the life of one of the cities of the North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, but also education in tolerance of others, respect for national culture and identity of ethnic groups living in the Russian Federation.
The photos were taken in 2014 and 2015 during expeditions in Derbent by well-known Russian photographers. In their works, the authors presented a vivid cross-cutting thematic palette that reflects the life of the city.
The exposition begins with images of the flourishing of the ancient city, and ends with night views of Derbent. This creates the effect of a one-day personal presence during which the visitor can not only see the sights of the city, which preserved a unique medieval character, but also get to know its people of different nationalities, religions and cultures, their everyday way of life, holidays, traditions and customs.
