Museums of Russia: The exhibition “The Pearl of Vyatka old times” to the 150th anniversary of the Kirov Regional Museum

February 3, 2016 in Kirov - in the day when in 1866 took place the opening of the Vyatka public museum, - was opened the first exhibition project in the upcoming commemorative events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the museum.

"With the help of museum objects, we can talk about any Vyatka period and the Russian history. Our museum has always played an important role - to collect and preserve the monuments of history and culture of the region. 150 years it honorably coped with this mission. The museum's collection of today - more 250 thousand museum pieces", - said the director of the Kirov Regional Museum M. S. Sudovikov.

The initiator of the museum was P. V. Alabin - a prominent public figure, an archaeologist and historian, an official and a writer, educator and military officer - member of the Crimean War of 1853-1856, philanthropist and collector, who did much for the development and prosperity of the Vyatka province.

To P. V. Alabin is devoted the first section of the exhibition, which presents his portrait, authentic autographs from the State archive of the Kirov region and documentary work of art "Hiking notes of 1853, 1854, 1855 and 1856", submitted to the exhibition of the Alexander Herzen Scientific Library, the first museum exhibits and "royal" mineral collection.

In other sections of the exposition also presents the "pearls" of the museum fund. Among them - the burls vase of the XVIII century; the register of the French commune of La Trinité 1791-1795; published in 1614 in the German book "Commentary on the Gospel"; goldwork and facial embroidery of the XVIII century; banner of the Vyatsk militia era of the Crimean War; guild banners artisans of the XIX century; original paintings of Vasnetsov; personal belongings of prominent statesmen, military leaders.

A special part of the project is the photographic exhibition "The history of the museum years". Documentary photographs will tell visitors about the 150-year history of the museum: a building, which houses a museum about exhibitions and exhibitions of different years on the staff of the museum and its current activities.

The exhibition will run until May 10,2 016.

21-22 April 2016 in the framework of the jubilee events will be held the All-Russian scientific-practical conference "National History Museum: history, collections, people", and a solemn assembly in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Kirov Regional Museum.
