2 February 2016

The Novgorod Museum Reserve is launching a mobile application with virtual 3D-tours. "Mobile Guide" will help planning your route around the Kremlin and around the city. This is software for a wide audience of augmented reality technology for mobile devices to the operating system iOS and Android. The free app will open new aspects of museum objects, will "revive" them in 3D-format, will tell about the famous monuments and murals.

The application allows the user to make any cognitive walk through the Kremlin and Veliky Novgorod and the surrounding area, with a simple and user-friendly guide. The package also includes the English version. This service opens up new possibilities of interactive multimedia.

- To install the application on a smart phone or tablet, the user gets access to the map, which marked the major attractions in the composition of the Novgorod Museum Reserve, including remote - Church of the Transfiguration on Nereditsa and Transfiguration of Our Savior on Kovalev. The "mobile guide" provides information about the monument, its history (with the application of archival photographs and diagrams), frescoes, mode of operation. Users can also listen to the audio guide of fresco compositions, such as the frescoes of Theophanes the Greek in the Church of the Transfiguration on Ilyina Street, - told in the museum.

Most of the application is available offline; it is possible to download individual blocks by the user - information about monuments, audio guides, maps. But the technology of augmented reality runs only online. In other words, to look into the ancient book or "reconstruct" ancient warrior attire, you must come up with a mobile device into a museum.
