Society and culture: The results of the Year of Literature in Russia are summed up in the State Duma
Chairman of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin headed a final meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Year of Literature in Russia.
Despite the fact that formally the Year of Literature is ended and the new, 2016, is declared the Year of Cinema Russia continues to celebrate the anniversaries of writers and poets, and on television and radio are released interesting and informative programs, noted S. Naryshkin.
"The national literature is enormously rich. Creativity and biographies of our writers and poets are invariably linked with the fate of Russia. Their life has always been connected with the history of the country, with the great and dramatic events and works of many of them can rightly be considered the philosophical and moral heritage of the whole world", - said the Chairman of the State Duma.
Let us recall that in the Year of the literature across the country were held about 1800 various activities, S. Naryshkin stressed the need to continue work on the preparation of the concept of teaching Russian language and literature in support of book publishing and book trade and to protect the rights of writers.
He also said that after a few days in the State Duma will begin a new cycle of lectures in which we will speak about the film, and literature. "It is absolutely natural, because talented film adaptation of literary works in quality and popularity often not inferior to the book itself. And the theater is hard to imagine without literature", - stated S. Naryshkin.
Head of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications Mikhail Seslavinskiy noted that the Year of Literature, covering all regions of Russia, rallied book publishing and library community, showed a lot of devotees and enthusiasts who are ready to serve the education and culture.
However, within one year to solve all problems of promotion and popularization of the Russian language and literature is impossible. In this regard, it was proposed to extend the work of the Organizing Committee, converting it to the Organizing Committee to support literature, book publishing and reading. According to M. Seslavinskiy, an executive order can go in the next two weeks.
Updating the Organizing Committee will solve at least large-scale tasks. They include re-establishment of Russia's school of translation of literary works with the languages of the peoples of Russia, which number is more than 80, in Russian. Another important aspect would be to work to improve the media literacy of the population, the formation of knowledge and skills required to obtain information, its evaluation and use.
Vice-president of the Russian Book Union Oleg Novikov said that the decision was a significant spread of anti-piracy law in literary works, and therefore at the forefront improving enforcement. Another priority for future work, he said, could be the creation of regional programs of support and development of infrastructure of reading and, in particular, access to the school curriculum and literature.
A significant event of the year was the start of work on the concept of school teaching Russian language and literature. The expert group, which includes leading scientists and linguists, teachers practitioners, prominent figures of culture and art, came to the conclusion that the number of hours set aside in the school for the study of the Russian language, optimally. But the "Russian" and the literature should be allocated to the individual items that require adjustment of existing instruments.
In addition, the solemn ceremony of memorable cancellation of artistic stamps from the series "Prominent Russian historians" took place. Chairman of the State Duma and the Russian Historical Society, Sergei Naryshkin, head of the Federal Agency of Communications Oleg Dukhovnitsky and adviser to President Vladimir Tolstoy have launched two new brands of treatment issued to the 250th anniversary of Nikolai Karamzin, and the 175th anniversary of the birth of V. O. Klyuchevsky.
