Society and science: The exhibition “Mechanics of Leonardo da Vinci” in Krasnodar

The exhibition "Mechanics of Leonardo da Vinci" opens on March 31, 2016 at the Kovalenko Art Museum in Krasnodar.

The exhibition features 30 arrangements, recreated from drawings of the great Italian painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, genius thoughts of Leonardo da Vinci.

Masters selected to create the most interesting mechanisms that demonstrate the principles of its operation and used in our time. "All inventions of Leonardo da Vinci, if learn them, consist of simple mechanisms, which are studied at school and are familiar to physicists, - says Alexei Yakushechkin, one of the exhibition sponsors. - Mechanisms established under drawings of da Vinci, are used in the automotive industry, avia construction, watch making and others".

Visitors of the exhibition will learn that in the XV century Leonardo da Vinci invented and perfected mechanisms that until today have not changed significantly. His works formed the basis of many parts, which are used by us every day – they are jacks, and bearings, gears, spotlights and other mechanisms. The exposition is supplemented with reproductions of his paintings, anatomical and other drawings. All mechanisms can be touched, twisted, they can be photographed with and carefully study how they work.

The exhibition runs till May 29, 2016.
