Information technology and museums: New Internet portal “The Virtual Russian Museum” introduces innovative museum projects

The launch of the new portal "The Virtual Russian Museum", which aims to combine the latest projects of the Russian Museum in the field of information technology.

The portal provides access to the collections of the State Russian Museum, the walk through the halls of the museum, the visit of real and virtual exhibitions, as well as acquaintance with innovative museum projects: Media Center in the Western guardhouse of the Mikhailovsky Castle, online-lectures, a project for mobile devices "Augmented Reality" and mobile applications, the conversion project of the Mikhailovsky castle "Theatre of Russian history. House of Romanov - facts, myths and legends. Saga of the Dynasty".

The main part of the portal is the project "The State Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" - an international project, which is being implemented since 2003 and embodies the idea of access to the largest collection of Russian art through the creation of information and educational centers in Russia and abroad.
