History and culture: The exhibition “Easter gift” in Kolomenkoye

In the Great Exhibition Hall of the Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in Kolomenskoye (Moscow) on March 24, 2016 was opened an exhibition of porcelain from the collection of Easter eggs by Galina Oistrakh "Easter gift", which will run until May 29, 2016. Basically, it presents works of the Imperial Porcelain Factory, the first and most famous in Russia, "the legislator porcelain fashion". The exhibition displays 163 porcelain eggs of the XIX - early XX century from a private collection, and 70 items from the museum-reserve assets (graphics, porcelain and glass, books, icons, furniture).

Porcelain - special material, always marked by the seal of perfection. This material has the highest social and cultural status from the moment of its appearance in Europe. In Russia's own production of porcelain appears when Empress Elizabeth, who founded St. Petersburg the first Imperial Porcelain Factory. From this point in the celebration of Easter at the Russian Imperial Court are beginning to use porcelain Easter eggs.

The project introduces the remarkable phenomenon of national art, special artistic objects, which occupy an important place, and were an indispensable part of Easter tradition of the Imperial Court.
