Memorable dates of Russia: The exhibition “Symbols of the undersea fleet of the Fatherland. To the 110th anniversary of the creation of the undersea fleet in Russia” in Saint-Petersburg

18 March 2016

March 18, 2016 at the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineer and Signal Corps (St. Petersburg) is opened the exhibition "Symbols of the undersea fleet of the Fatherland. To the 110th anniversary of the Russian submarine fleet".

March 19 Russia celebrates the Day of Russian submariner.

The history of Russian submarine fleet begins with the imperial order of 11 March 1906 on which the submarines were recognized as a separate class of ships and isolated from the destroyers.

A new exhibition in the light of the symbolism reveals the history of Russian submarine fleet, its development and current state. It presents more than fifty items, including badges, ribbons hats, emblems and submariners of different periods. Archival documents, photographs, models of submarines and torpedoes, portraits of famous submariners and awards are also on display. Most of the exhibits are provided by private collectors.

Each exhibit is unique and interesting, because it shows the changes that insignia of submariners have undergone for more than a century. But among them there are also memorabilia. Thus, in one of the windows you can see the badges (primary and secondary) of the nuclear submarine "Kursk", as well as a fragment of a light body of the ship.
