Society and church: The photo exhibition dedicated to the way of life of monasteries of Athos is opened in the Museum of Christ the Savior in Moscow

The photo exhibition, dedicated to the way of life of monasteries of Athos, was opened in the Museum of Christ the Savior in Moscow. The opening ceremony was attended by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

The exhibition of Russian St. Pantheleimon Monastery on Mount Athos is dedicated to the millennium of the presence of Russia monks in the Holy Mountain. Visitors will be able to see about 180 photographs of nature, buildings, interiors and shrines of various Athos monasteries, cells, as well as moments of festive services and everyday labors of monks. The pictures were made from 1984 to 2016.

About 30 photographs will reproduce daguerreotypes (images on metal plates) of the end of the XIX- early XX century, which reflect the atmosphere of the life of St. Pantheleimon Monastery up to revolution.
