To the Day of Orthodox Book: Russian Orthodox Church organizes holiday events

A few thousand events will be held on the Day of Orthodox Book, which traditionally celebrates on March 14. The organizer of these events is the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). The actions dedicated to this date, will be held besides Russia in Belarus and Ukraine, as well as abroad.

The most extensive program is planned in the metropolitan eparchy. There will be held over seven hundred events in Moscow.

As Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk and the head of the publishing department of the Russian Orthodox Church explained, that all eparchies organize this festival along with their local cultural institutions.

Festival of Orthodox books timed to the 14th of March. On this day in 1564 the printing pioneer Ivan Fedorov published the first printed book in Russia. It was the "Books of the Apostles." The first festival was celebrated six years ago. The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill initiated it.
