The Year of Russian Cinema-2016: The exhibition “My life, cinematography” in Saratov

The Saratov Regional Museum hosted a presentation of the exhibition "My life, cinematography…". This is one of the events timed to the Year of Cinema in Russia. The exhibition presents original documents, photographs, costumes to roles, personal belongings, equipment used during shooting, posters and programs.

The first acquaintance of Saratov citizens with "The Great dumb" as it was called cinema, happened May 18, 1897. It was then that took place the viewing of "Cinématographe Lumiere" in the City Theatre building.

The exhibition tells the story of the birth of Russian cinema. In Russia in 1915, it was in 1412 cinemas, in the Saratov province - 19. The first Electro theatre in Saratov was "electroscope" (later "Grand Michelle", "Central"), opened in 1908. One after another were opened a small cinema theaters with magnificent names: "Royal Vio", "Furor", "Giant" etc. The exhibition includes photos and posters of the first movie theaters in Saratov.

In the 1920s - early 1930s in Saratov there were cinemas "Red October" (formerly "Ideal", "Rot Front"), "Work" (formerly "ARS"), "Iskra", "Summer", "Great dumb", "Jung-storm" (in the conservatory building) and others.

There were presented photos of actors of silent movies, movie posters "City Lights", "The Island of Lost Ships", "Children of the Storm", a program of films "Kiss of Mary Pickford,", "Cigarette Girl from Mosselprom" and others.

The first sound movie theater in Saratov was "Temp". Here was shown the country's first sound film "Road to Life".

A significant place is given to the Lower Volga studio newsreel. There are exhibited materials of festivals held in Saratov, including the festival of documentary melodrama "Saratov suffering", which was held for 12 times.

The materials of composers Alfred Schnittke and Vladimir Pushkov, as well as screenwriters, cinematographers and film industry leaders are exhibited.
