Information technology and libraries: The digitization of catalogues of the N. A. Nekrasov Library in Moscow

The ELAR Corporation has implemented the project in the N. A. Nekrasov Central Universal Scientific Library (Moscow): it was embedded an image system to view and search cards of alphabetical and systematic catalogs, and put a set of planetary scan.

As part of the project ELAR experts scanned more than 190 000 cards and more than 2500 separators of alphanumeric subject and systematic catalogs. Separators are indexed in order to maintain the directory structure in the image system. To refer to a system the library readers can through Internet.

The N. A. Nekrasov Central Universal Scientific Library - it is the largest library of Moscow with common fund of about 1 million units. Currently, electronic databases are remotely available for library users, including scientific, encyclopaedic, educational, legal, legal, fiction, as well as the media in 56 languages. It is also possible directly from the establishment of the website to read the book of the rare fund (issued till 1945).
