World history and culture: Ancient records of Bible texts to be shown at the Hermitage

Ancient records of Bible texts from the collection of the Museum of Israel will be brought to Russia. The director of the Russian Museum, Mikhail Piotrovsky, who is currently in Jerusalem told about the agreement. Unique exhibition will be opened in the Hermitage in December this year.

During the negotiations Piotrovsky with a colleague from the Museum of Israel, James Snyder discussed the prospects of scientific and cultural exchange between the countries. In particular, it was a wide-ranging cooperation which will be developed on an ongoing basis.

As part of the reached agreements at the Hermitage will be prepared the exposition of Qumran manuscripts or Dead Sea Scrolls. In Jerusalem at the Museum of Israel for Relics is allocated a separate building. Manuscripts are displayed with the greatest caution. Treasures were rarely exported outside the museum.

The exhibition in the Hermitage will be timed to the 25th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Memorial date is celebrated this year.
