Memory of the world: The bust of Yuri Gagarin to appear in Washington
The International Public Charitable Foundation "Dialogue of Cultures - United World" continues its work on installation of monuments around the world. The next important step will be the installation of a bronze bust of Yuri Gagarin at the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution, located in Washington, DC. Inauguration of the memorial created by sculptor Alexei Leonov, will be held on April 19, 2016.
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum was established in 1976. On its territory it is exhibited the world's largest collection of aircraft and spacecraft.
The project was initiated by the Foundation "Dialogue of Cultures - United World", it received the support of the Russian Embassy in the United States and Rossotrudnichestvo representation office in the United States. The opening ceremony is timed to the 55th anniversary of the first manned flight into space.
In this landmark for the entire history of astronautics year the Fund establishes Gagarin busts worldwide. Only in April, the busts will be opened in the United States, Italy and Jordan. The full list of countries includes Argentina, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Canada, Denmark, Norway and others.
