Information technology and culture: Information and educational center “The State Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” is opened in the Chelyabinsk region

April 15, 2016 in the Satka Central City Library (the Chelyabinsk region) is opened the information and educational center "The State Russian museum: the Virtual Branch".

The Central City Library in Satka (the Chelyabinsk region) holds its history from 1910, when the Satka (Pavlenkovskaya) Public Library was opened, the book fund which amounted to little more than 800 books. Today the library is part of the Centralized Library System, bringing together six libraries of Satka with a total book fund of more than 50 thousand copies.

In 2015, the Central Library celebrated its 105th anniversary. This year its composition has a new structural unit - the Center of cultural initiatives. This is a multi-functional department that successfully combines areas of cultural activities such as exhibition, museum and library. The Centre has acquired the image of an "urban living room", opened to all residents of the city. That's the Cultural Initiatives Center will be a platform for the realization of large-scale educational project of the Russian Museum "The State Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch". 

A variety of multimedia resources that are included in the library information and educational center "The State Russian museum: the Virtual branch" will allow residents of Satka closer looking at the largest collection of national art stored in the Russian Museum, to learn more about the culture and history of Russia, and also make fascinating virtual tour the palaces and halls of the Russian museum. The structure of the virtual branch of the Russian Museum, which includes a multimedia theater and computer room allows for a variety of activities designed both to individual visitors, and the wider audience of adults and young visitors to the virtual branch of the Russian Museum.
