14 April 2016

April 14, 2016 in the Ryazan Kremlin is opened the exhibition from the collections of the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve, which tells about the personality of Saint Blessed Grand Prince Alexander Yaroslavovych Nevsky - a talented military leader and a prominent statesman. During his political career (1236-1263), in the most difficult time for Russia, with a sword and diplomacy Nevsky saved it from death threats, and from the west and from the east, neither having defeats on the battlefield nor at the negotiating table.

The exhibition includes archaeological materials (primarily weapon), thumbnail copies of the Personal Chronicle of XVI century, assembly drooping prince printing. Maps and battles scheme will help to restore the page of heroic epic fight with the Germans and the Swedes in the XIII century: victories in 1240 and 1242, won by Russian troops under the leadership of Alexander Nevsky, are of paramount importance in the history of the Russian state and the Novgorod land.

The earliest written sources from the collection of the Novgorod Museum - calendars and service Menaion of the XVII - XVIII century – are evidence of the spread of the cult of St. Alexander Nevsky as one of the most revered national saints. In the XIX century Nevsky is the saint patron of three Russian emperors. To Holy Prince were dedicated more than 400 churches in the Russian Empire and beyond. Visitors can get acquainted with the iconography of St. Alexander Nevsky - in monastic garb, the Grand Duke's robes, in the form of warrior-rider.
