April 12, 2016 in the building of the State Duma in Moscow took place the opening of the exhibition "Notary of Russia - 150 years: yesterday, today and tomorrow".

April 27, 1866 Emperor Alexander II signed the "Regulations on the part of the notary", thus highlighting the notary as an independent legal institution in the judicial reform.

The presented exhibition shows that the history of the development of notarial activities in our country goes back many centuries. First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Construction Alexander Agayev noted that "the documents showing signs of notarization, dating back to the 12th century are found. Novgorod birchbark documents, certified by the first known to us "notaries" of Old Rus’ named Torlin".

Participants of the ceremony noted that over the years the notary structure has changed, but the task of preventing litigation, and in case of those - to provide notarized irrefutable evidence of the facts, was unchanged.
