4 April 2016

The exhibition "Salvador Dali. Holy message", which opened at the Chambers of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve (Vladimir), present the first in Russia the most ambitious graphic series of the greatest artist of the XX century - its illustrations for the Old and the New Testament from a private Italian collection. None of the 105 represented at the exhibition works by Salvador Dali is not in the collections of Russian museums, which allows no exaggeration to call this project unique.

In 1963, Salvador Dali has received a proposal from Dr. Giuseppe Albaretto to illustrate a new edition of the Bible (Biblia Sacra) and enthusiastically took up its implementation. This project involved a detailed and in-depth study of the Scriptures, spiritual penetration not only in the narrative story line, but in the hidden meaning and truth of the words of the Great Books.

Selection of biblical themes for this project was made by Dali. As a result, in 1963-1964, there were 105 works, executed in mixed media, combining watercolor, gouache, ink, pastel, pencil and converted in 1964-1967 in lithography. Thus it was emerged the largest in the works of Dali graphic design.

The exhibition "Salvador Dali. Holy message" undoubtedly reveal new facets in the work of Salvador Dali, as well as opens the Russian audience an unknown Salvador Dali.
