Information technology and culture: The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts presents the exhibition “House of Impression. Classics and contemporary media art”

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow) presents the first project of the new Division of Film and Media Arts Museum. The exhibition "House of mpression. Classic and contemporary media art" in the space of the Museum campus of the Pushkin - a collection of nineteen works of outstanding video and media artists of the XX-XXI century. The project is dedicated to the collision of past and present innovative processes that took place in the XX century, related to the "release" of artistic means. The museum invites not only in the space of the old manor, but also in space installations, created by taking into account the "genius loci".  

The space of the exhibition - Golitsyn manor - a place which crosses at least three centuries, and very different cultural space. Built in the XVIII century as Moscow manor heirs of an old family, it later took the first public museum of curiosities and works of art - even before the Museum of Fine Arts, created by Ivan Vladimirovich Tsvetaev. Until recently, there has been featured Institute of Philosophy.

Logic dictates the logic of space not only the installation, but also the entire exposure. With that, the exhibition includes works that have become classics of video art in 1950-1970s, it is not arranged in chronological order. Prepared for the exhibition educational program focuses on how people changed in the XX century, thanks to new technologies.
