Museums of Russia: The Russian Impressionism Museum in Moscow

The Russian Impressionism Museum was opened in Moscow on May 26, 2016 in the presence of Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and head of the Moscow Department of Culture Alexander Kibovsky.

Russian Impressionism Museum is housed in the cultural and business complex "Bolshevik" of the Belarusian railway station. Design and conversion of the former "Bolshevik" factory building, which was built in the late XIX century, a full-fledged museum and a real art object was made by the well-known British architectural firm John McAslan + Partners.

"Today, we are present at the opening of private museum of Russian impressionism, created on the basis of the former factory. Here are preserved historic buildings created in a modern space that meets all the requirements for museum storage and exhibitions", - said Sergei Sobyanin.

He drew attention to the fact that "Moscow is one of the museum cities in the world in the number of museums and the number of visitors".

Alexander Kibovsky stressed that the former candy factory managed to create a leisure complex.

The exposition of the museum includes 70 paintings by famous Russian artists, including Valentin Serov, Pyotr Konchalovsky, Konstantin Korovin, Igor Grabar, Boris Kustodiev. For the general public the museum will begin its work on 28 May.
