Society and church: The exhibition, dedicated to the history of St. Nicholas Church, in the Tula region
In Krapivna took place the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the history of Krapivensky St. Nicholas Church. The exhibition is timed to the 400th anniversary of the parish church.
The exhibition presents the church utensils and liturgical items, church books, provided by St. Nicholas Church, as well as historical documents and photographs from the museum.
The first mention of Krapivensky Temple in the name of St. Nicholas with the Chapel of St. Florus and Laurus are related to 1616. It is known that up to 1759 the church was made of wood, but the construction of a stone building was completed in 1764. The project was drawn up by architect Ivan Blanco, who is known for buildings of the Znamensky church in Tsarskoye Selo, the Trinity Church in the Red Selo and Peterhof fountains and is implemented in the style of late baroque.
St. Nicholas Church was not closed nor in the most difficult times of persecution of the Church or in the years of the Great Patriotic War. Even during the German occupation in the autumn-winter of 1941 we are committed worship. In 1969, the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR St. Nicholas Church in Krapivna was given the status of an architectural monument of federal significance.
