History of Russia: The first meeting of the foundation “History of the Fatherland”

The first meeting of the fund "History of the Fatherland" took place. It was chaired by the chairman of the lower house of the Russian Parliament Sergey Naryshkin, who also holds the post of head of the Russian Historical Society (RIO).

The initiative for the creation of this fund was made by President of Russia Vladimir Putin. He signed a decree early last month. The founder is the Government of Russia.

The main objectives of this fund is to promote the Russian history in our country, and abroad, work on preservation of historical heritage and cultural traditions of peoples who inhabit the Russian Federation, as well as support for appropriate educational programs.

At its first meeting of the foundation council members gathered in a historic mansion, located on the street Vorontsovo field. Sergei Naryshkin stressed that now the building that is given to RIO, will be the headquarters community of historians.

He added that it was necessary to start as soon as possible to resolve a number of issues. And above all to approve the charter of the fund. Naryshkin also noted that most of the projects that will be financed by the foundation should be targeted at the younger generation.
