3 May 2016

The Murom History and Art Museum plans to combine public museum collections of the city into a single network. Thus, the guided tour of a mobile guide will be created.

For the development of the project "Private History" - winner of the XI grant competition "Changing Museum in a Changing World" by Vladimir Potanin Foundation - will involve volunteers and benefactors who wish to contribute to the development of the culture of the region.

"Private History" - a story about the museum business in Murom. These are collectible collections of "founding fathers" of the Murom Museum, as well as life stories of indigenous inhabitants of the region. The name of the project was not chosen by chance. It was reflected in the content of the work, and the future shape of the Murom museum, which should be a space of dialogue, a place where people share their stories.

Great contribution to the development of the project was made by students - along with museum specialists the research work was made by about thirty students. During the year, the guys selected and researched museums exhibits with interesting legends, which allow taking a look at the history of the XX century through the prism of the personal stories of the residents of Murom.

In May 2015 "Private History" was revived. Near the attractions there were informative signs with QR-codes, leading to the museum's website.

The next step of the project is to create a tour route and the mobile guide based on the collected "personal stories". It will bring together partners and museums make their collections more open to residents and visitors alike.
