History and culture: The exhibition “Mysteries of old paintings” at the State Tretyakov Gallery

May 31, 2016 the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) will present the exhibition "Secrets of old paintings" within the program "The State Tretyakov Gallery opens its stores".

The exhibition embodies the dream of the majority of the audience to get acquainted with the "behind the scenes" "museum life: research, store and restoration activities.

17 stories show the work of museum technologies, historians, archivists and experts involved in the attribution of works. Their many years of work allowed the paintings to find the authors, the forgotten heroes - the names, to expose hoaxes and discover unknown masterpieces by famous images.
