Electronic libraries: The State Duma adopted the law on the National Electronic Library

The State Duma of Russia in the final plenary session adopted in the second and third reading the law which regulates the activity and the creation of the National Electronic Library (NEL) - the largest information resource.

According to the law, the goal to create NEL is the preservation of historical, scientific and cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia, to provide conditions for increasing the intellectual potential of the Russian Federation and the promotion of Russian science and culture, forming the basis for the creation of single e-Russian space knowledge. The tasks of creating NEL, its functions, objects.

Operator of NEL will be the Russian State Library, and it will be financed from the federal budget and other funding sources.
