History and culture: “The Abramtsevo Landscape. Paintings, Drawings of XIX-XX Centuries from the Collection of the Abramtsevo State National Park and Museum" exhibition in Moscow
"The Abramtsevo Landscape. Paintings, Drawings of XIX-XX Centuries from the Collection of the Abramtsevo State National Park and Museum" exhibition will run from the 8th of June to the 31st of July 2016, at the Polenov Summerhouse annex of Abramtsevo State National Park and Museum (Moscow Oblast).
The overall theme of the Abramtsevo landscape gathered within this exhibition the artists of different epochs, tendencies and groups. The exhibition presents works showing Abramtsevo landscape during several decades from the 1880s to the 1950s. Beloved corners of Abramtsevo nature appear in the paintings of artists of Mamontov’s circle: Polenov, Vasnetsov brothers, Levitan, Nesterov, Ostroukhov and many others.
Thus, the exhibition offers a rare chance to track how the artistic vision of classical Abramtsevo landscape had been changing for nearly a century. And how in a new light and fresh colors all the same river Vorya, manor ponds and alleys, hills, groves, fields and woods, inspiring the famous masters of the brush of the XIX century, were shown in the works of the artists of the XX century.
