5 June 2016

In the Tula Regional Art Museum on June 2, 2016 was opened the exhibition "Great captivated forever. Salons and academic art of the XIX - early XX centuries" from the collection of the I. P. Pozhalostin Ryazan State Regional Art Museum.

The exhibition is composed of works by artists of XIX - early XX centuries, the so-called academic and salon art. Initially, "Art salons", periodic exhibitions of paintings, prints and sculptures, were founded in Paris back in 1667, and by the middle of the XIX century became an annual event.

The center of gravity and a measure of beauty for many artists of this circle was the art of ancient Greece and Rome.

The exhibition will run until September 4, 2016.
