Society and culture: “The Secrets of Old Paintings” Exhibition opens in the Tretyakov Gallery

“The Secrets of Old Paintings” Exhibition opens as part of the project “The Tretyakov Gallery opens its store”.

The exhibition embodies the dream of the majority of the audience to get to know more about the museum’s life “behind the scenes”: research, conservation and restoration activities.

Seventeen exhibits will show the work of museum technicians, historians, archivists and experts involved in the attribution of art works. Their work of many years made it possible to find the authors of the paintings, the names of the forgotten characters, to expose hoaxes and discover unknown masterpieces hidden under layers of paint.
