History and culture: The exhibition "Circle of Petrov-Vodkin" in St. Petersburg

June 2, 2016 in the Benois Wing of the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) is opened the exhibition "Circle of Petrov-Vodkin".

The exhibition aims to present Petrov-Vodkin in the uniqueness of his creative consciousness, which included a special vision of community and mutual understanding, which he expected from his colleagues and students.

The artist is actively involved in teaching since 1910 (School of E. Zvantseva). He came to the school, where there was already an advanced artistic pedagogy (actually, L. Bakst brought him as a teacher himself replaced). The exhibition "zvantsevtsev" shows for the first time as a kind of whole phenomenon, which found their refraction stylistic interests era, especially the symbolism and expressionism beginning.

The exhibition shows a large reservoir of works by artists who had the opportunity to beat the course of Petrov Vodkin to "see science" and grow into quite independent artists. A number of artists have kept, in spite of his powerful personality, a direct dialogue with the teacher. The concept of "Circle of Petrov-Vodkin" appears on display and mobile multi-piece, designed for the increment of new materials and interpretations.

The exhibition includes works from the State Russian Museum, the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Scientific Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, thee Nizhny Tagil Museum of Fine Arts, the St. Petersburg State Museum of Theatrical and Musical Arts, the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic Tatarstan. In addition, the works of more than 10 private collections are presented.
