Society and culture: The book engraving of Petersburg artists Alexander and Valery Traugott to be presented at the exhibition in Staraya Ladoga

In the Exhibition Hall of the Staraya Ladoga Museum-Preserve on June 3, 2016 will be open the exhibition "G. A. V. Traugott. Pictures in books".

The exhibition will present book graphics of Petersburg artists Alexander and Valery Traugott - schedules and painters. Their illustrations are widely known not only in Russia but also abroad. The works of these artists are distinguished by subtlety, elegance and ease of execution.

In total, the brothers together with their father, George Nikolayevich Traugott, illustrated about four books with a total circulation of more than 80 million copies. Three letters that stand next to the name Traugott - not to intrigue the reader and the viewer - they are capitalized in the names of the artists G. A. V. Traugott - and is the first name of the father. Under this signature are illustrated tales which favorite among children of the fairy tale world.

At the All-Russia competition A. and V. Traugott received more than 30 certificates, 14 of them - the first degree. Works of brothers A. and V. Traugott are in museums of Moscow (including the Tretyakov Gallery), St. Petersburg, Tver, Arkhangelsk, Petrozavodsk, Vologda, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ryazan and Kaliningrad, as well as abroad: in the Andersen Museum Odense, Japan, Germany, the Czech Republic and others, in many private collections in Europe, the US and Israel.
